Auckland Museum Identity award winning

Our icon on the hill

Sanders Design has revitalised and modernised the visual identity system that we originally created for the much-loved Auckland Museum more than eight years ago.

The revitalisation called for a suite of signage and marketing material all using a consistent visual system. We have reworked the graphic depicting the Auckland landmark. A distinctive nautilus image has been introduced as being symbolic of the migration of New Zealand's peoples.

The visual identity is also expressed on a wide range of 'MUSEUMSHOP' merchandise and materials.

We have designed a wayfinding and signage system to help the overall visitor experience using colour-coded floor levels, 2 & 3 dimensional wayfinding maps and international symbols for easy identification.

Large colourful 'emotive' images capture the essence of each gallery.
