Exhibition Catalogue

Artist Guy Ngan has been making sculptures, paintings, drawings and prints for over 60 years. Heather Galbraith, Senior Curator, City Gallery Wellington presented the Guy Ngan: Journey'"Aluminium Panel, Tiki Hands and Anchor Stones exhibition as a taster; an introduction to those new to his work and a long-awaited treat for those familiar.

Although modest this exhibition catalogue was to be an important contribution to the documentation of Ngan's work. Continuing the Gallery's commitment to late 20th century and contemporary New Zealand practice this was also an opportunity to reflect a further interest in work ripe for re-discovery and consideration.

The catalogue, a 28p paperback was published for the exhibition opening in July 2006. Colour images on gloss art are isolated and enhanced, by contrast, next to the grey page tint of the matt texts. The trimmed A5 dimensions with a heavy card cover contain fifteen image reproductions & 3 lush full-bled page spreads, the reproductions successfully capturing the vibrancy and colour of the exhibition. This bright catalogue is a smart insight into and solid documentation of Ngan's work.
