Case study overview
Fearon Hay website
Fearon Hay is a bit of a dream client for any designer really... their work is just so amazing it's almost too easy to design something great for them. They gave us a whole load of photos and no brief... just put something together around the work that suits it.
Our approach to the form was to design a sleek, minimal Flash portfolio that just let the images do the talking, which we felt was in keeping with their stark modern aesthetic.
For the function, the gallery has a nice dual way of viewing images which lets users decide the level of interaction they want - thumbnails or slideshow. This was a hat-tip to FH's own functional approach, especially their killer baches with walls which can completely retract, or close right up according to the needs of the inhabitant.
Conversa Global is New Zealand's largest and fastest growing market research consultancy, now part of the global TNS group.
Conversa wanted a site to show how the approach they've developed towards market research is better, and show their unique company culture and sense of fun.
We came up with the concept of a site based around a comparitive comic tale of a kid trying to get a date with his dream girl, and the drastically different results of advice from his "traditional" uncle, and his Conversa-style uncle.
We storyboarded the two stories, cast actors (including most of the Fracture crew) to play the main roles, and shot over two days. All that was left to do was create a Flash comic panel engine-thingy, and a whole lot of animation.
Conversa were rapt with the results, and they relished the opportunity to take the piss out of eachother in their staff section!
