Godley Gifts Bookset award winning

GODLEY GIFTS - consists of three small volumes, each printed on a beautiful high-quality, Italian paper, hand-sewn and quarter-bound in Moroccan calfskin, including reproductions of all FitzGerald's water-colours, which have the same dimensions as the originals.

WHY QUIQCORP? A representative of the John Robert Godley Memorial Trust (JRGMT) wanted to produce an exquisite reproduction of the gift that James Edward FitzGerald gave to John Robert Godley's family. The JRGMT were seeking a company that had excellent typo-graphic design, book and graphic design qualifications and references. They sought a comprehensive company with key knowledge that covered their various needs. Their requirements included someone who could consult on; design, print management and production, paper selection, photographic reproduction and re-touching, treatment of archival prints, understanding of water-colours and other painterly techniques, packaging, event management, advertising, web design and development and brand creation and media management.

WHAT HAPPENED? During the course of designing a brochure to introduce the first gift from FitzGerald, 'Seadrift', New Zealand's first known illustrated children's book, we discovered a previously unknown set of water-colours in the archives at the Canterbury Museum. This chance discovery, required that the project expanded to encompass two additional books, to work with writer and editors including David McPhail, and triple the hours required with a previously fixed deadline in order to re-touch and prepare all the aged pre-loved historic prints.

OUR SOLUTION? The project moved from a single book, to a three volume case-bound book set.

WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME? Only one hundred Limited Edition copies of Godley Gifts will ever be produced, each hand dedicated by the Rt. Hon. The Lord Kilbracken of Killegar, great-great grandson of John Robert Godley, founder of Canterbury. A three times winner at the 2008 Pride in Print Awards, the stunning book-set, and has the status of being a gift from the once Premiere of New Zealand James Edward FitzGerald to the people of Christchurch, and alike to Helen Clark, the Prime Minister of New Zealand.
