Holcim Globally 


Holcim is the world's largest cement producer operating in over 80 countries. Their challenge was to develop a global brand from scratch in a timeframe of five years. BRR initially was contracted to conduct the brand change for Holcim New Zealand's subsidiary Milburn Limited. The success of this project resulted in further engagements in most of the Asian countries with specific in-depth involvement in the Philippines and Indonesia. Significant work was refined in the development of global guidelines and communication formats for the brand, BRR working directly with their home office communications personnel in Zurich, Switzerland.

The project outcomes were the successful brand changes in a number of countries together with an extended global communications guidelines and product naming system. BRR, through its Asian operations, has serviced a range of Holcim companies in brand-related matters offering brand coaching and advisory services.

The design challenges for a major industrial enterprise globally were significant. Language and cultural differences were a major consideration in ensuring the brand was 'glocalised' wherever possible.
