Case study overview

Qualmark

Qualmark, New Zealand's official Tourism mark of quality, required a design personality and delivery system for communicating to members the extension and enhancement of its environmental and social assessment criteria '" 'Responsible Tourism.'

The communications were aimed at accommodation providers, visitor activities, transport and services via mail and supported by a website.

The 'handle with care' ceramic shape of New Zealand within the box was the hero image, representing the need for the protection of the country as a whole and the requirement for tourism business to act as one in representing the 100% pure message to the traveller.

The design team then developed a set of imagery to help represent the five key areas of the environmental criteria. Graphics of five recognisable objects were altered to reflect the titles and then photographed as still life's.

An accessible, easy to follow document was then designed to reflect the clean, green direction. It was printed with sustainablity in mind and packaged in a protective mailable box.
