Case study overview

Kiwi Steel

Kiwi Steel is a supplier of steel products for the New Zealand and Asia-Pacific markets.

The company operates as an international steel trader, broker and merchant, handling a wide range of products andnprocessing services.

Their core activity in New Zealand is the supply of product to manufacturers of household appliances, automotive products, building and civil engineering constructors.

Kiwi Steel wanted to differentiate themselves from the competition in the New Zealand steel market as well as increase their corporate profile.

Existing branding and marketing material had become inconsistent and out-dated.

A stronger, more exciting identity was needed to portray Kiwi Steel as a serious player in their industry and to reinforce the company vision and direction.

Many ideas were explored for a new logo before settling on a stylised 'K', resembling metal ribbon.

The colours were retained from the old brand as a link with the past.

A series of icons representing Kiwi Steel's mainnproduct range were created to add visual interest to materials including stationery, product catalogue and building signage.

For the company profile, strong photography with the theme of 'hands on' was commissioned. This combined with solid copy writing and high quality production featuring silver ink has created a high impact sales tool.

The final result is that Kiwi Steel has a range of consistent and professional marketing materials which together form an exciting visual identity.

"Our new brand works well and has drawn favourable comment from our clients and suppliers." - K. H. Lee (CEO, Kiwi Steel)
