Case study overview
Navman F20 In-Car and Personal Navigator
Navman is a recognized world leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology products.
With the advances in GPS technology, and the increasing demands from consumers for smaller and more portable devices, Navman wanted to introduce a new product platform and subsequent product series. The first product to market in this platform was the F20 In-Car and Personal Navigator.
The product has reached a new level of sophistication in terms of its refinement, finish, performance and quality. Along with its 3.5" touch screen LCD, it has dedicated buttons to allow instant identification of the nearest car parks and petrol stations. It can also hi-light points of interest and other services such as banks and hospitals.
The product was designed using the latest thinking in terms of plastic part design for high volume manufacturing and also care for the environment. It is cleverly engineered to ensure it is the smallest size possible, yet fully ruggedised for everyday use (and accidental abuse).
The 4ormfunction product design and engineering team converted the design intent and direction supplied by Navman into final product within budget, and within the compressed time frame.
The F20 was launched globally in September 2006.
