Case study overview
Navman iCN550 Packaging
Objective
The objective of this project was to transform the Navman iCN range from a technical product to a consumer brand through well designed packaging. The existing packaging consisted of all the components dumped into one box with unwieldy usage instructions.
Solution
Working together, Formworks and Dow Design (graphics) created a packaging solution that gave a sense of order to the myriad of components that make up the iCN 550 product family. The inner packaging was partitioned into three modules; the main unit, the in-car devices and the accessories to stay at home. These were identified with simple icons. In applying this narrative to the unpacking of the product, the technology was made less daunting, more accessible. The graphics on the packaging tell the story of Navman taking you places '" the product is shown travelling along a dynamic/symbolic streetscape.
