Case study overview
Otago Polytechnic - Inspiring Capability
While Otago Polytechnic enjoyed a proud heritage - amongst other things, it started New Zealand's first art school in 1870 - it lacked the cohesion of a central ethos, brand strategy and architecture to accurately reflect its current offering and aspirations.
BRR's task was to develop a durable brand with a modern and consistent image to lift the profile and value perceptions of Otago Polytechnic, enhancing their ability to attract students. As part of its brand strategy, BRR developed the brand positioning of 'Inspiring Capability' to reflect Otago Polytechnic's innovative form of learning which motivates students and teachers alike to reach their full potential and to truly master new skills.
BRR also completed a revised brand identity, creating a vibrant yet robust design system which not only unifies the visual expression of the brand and its values but provides a cost-effective framework for producing brand collateral and communications.
