Case study overview

Sandeli identity award winning

Sandeli was launched to fill a gap in the market for premium, ready-to-go sandwiches.

This concept was very successful in the UK with office workers being their main market.

The stores would have a 'cafe-style' environment, and the sale of premium coffee, cakes, cookies, salads and drinks would support the core product range of sandwiches.

The brief was to create a brand, logo and packaging for a range of premium, ready-to-go, deli-fresh sandwiches.

The tone and feel needed to be simple, classic, sophisticated and reflect the natural quality of the product.

The packaging needed to provide protection, allow the consumer to easily view to product, allow a medium for strong branding, be cost-effective and environmentally-friendly.

The final designs were a simple classic, design printed in one colour on recycled stock where possible.

A self-locking, glue-free box was designed for the sandwiches and cake slices that met the brief requirements.

The brand was represented across sandwich boxes, cake boxes, juice bottles, cookie bags, coffee cups, carry bags, serviettes, sugar sachets, point of sale and exterior and interior signage.

The result was a successful launch and growth of the Sandeli brand, with four stores opening in the first 18 months.

Also Winner of the Best Design award for Brand Development in 1998.
