Case study overview

Simunovich Olive Estate Olive Oils

The Simunovich family came to us with a range of wonderful olive oils. The brief was to design a brand and packaging that would communicate the virtues of their products and their story. Their existing olive oil range was struggling to be noticed in their limited retail market.

A family crest was developed that would form the umbrella brand and link to the Estate's other varied initiatives, as well as becoming recognised as an artisan seal of quality, a trust mark.

As part of our brief we were required to adopt the existing oil's retail bottle. We took full advantage of the strong body shape with a quirky crafted mix of fonts telling the story and enhancing the awkward bottle shape. On the shelf, the bottle and label '~elbow' other bottles beside them.

Olive oil to the Simunovichs' is a lifestyle, a trade and a craft which has been passed down through generations. The honest, simple packaging reflects their artisan background and acts simply as the platform... 'It is what it is'.

The first press bottle was sourced from Italy, its shape reinforces the beneficial aspects of olive oil '" inferring its elixir qualities, not unlike old medicinal bottles. Produced in limited numbers each year, this oil is the first pour from each season and needed to have a higher-end 'limited edition' feel. Each bottle comes in a customised carry bag.
