Case study overview
Stephenson&Turner Architects Identity
A new expression of positive change
Stephenson&Turner is a well established architectural/engineering practice and were looking for a new expression of positive change '" building on existing strengths while offering a new vision: design led, leading edge multi-disciplinary practice (architects & engineers), specialist skills and sustainable environments. The new identity uses the long name, description and positioning statement as a positive element and when developed further became the foundation for a flexible yet simple identity system (refer to previous pages). The typographic layout hints at building structures and architectural forms.
The relocation of the Auckland office to a new building provided an ideal time for Stephenson&Turner's identity revitalisation. Visual look concepts from the Stage 1 presentation were translated into interior graphics and signage for reception, foyer and meeting room areas. Spanning 18m, floor to ceiling glass walls were covered in frosted vinyls and printed with architectural graphics (drawings, plans, textures) and photography of people in '~inspirational environments.' Architectural symbols and elements were picked out of the frosted vinyls allowing for visibility into spaces and adding another aesthetic level.
