Case study overview
Toni & Guy website
There are 400 Toni & Guy salons represented in many different countries around the world; from New Zealand and Australia to right throughout the USA.
The training academies are so successful that they have also grown and expanded around the world to number around 16.
The first Toni & Guy in NZ was opened in Queen St by Cameron Grimshaw, a successful protege of T&G London, with The Broadway salon - opened in 2004 - being the first satellite store.
Rather than relying solely on the international brand, Toni & Guy NZ wanted a website aimed at the local market.
They also felt that they needed to raise their online profile, have a central place for broadcasting salon related news and most importantly of all, to promote the growing interest in the 'Toni & Guy Academy'.
The site refers strongly to the B/W nature of the T&G branding to achieve a stylish, fast and accessible design.
Rather than utilising Flash technology, as featured in the T&G international sites, we opted for a stripped down, standards-based HTML solution, taking away unnecessary animations and going back to the core values of the brand.
The new T&G NZ website was soon outranking many of the international sites in search engine queries.
So much so, in fact, that enquiries to attend the academy were fielded from as far away as Ireland.
The site also helped to raise T&G's profile at local fashion events, the website traffic spiking sharply during these periods.
