Case study overview
Verda New Zealand Limited
A comprehensive internal and external brand strategy was developed for Key Lumber Company, to reposition the company, and create greater awareness of its largely wood-based products. After extensive client consultation, BRR produced a Brand Blueprint, outlining the strategic direction for the company, encompassing aspects such as the reinvention of pine as a sustainable resource, enhancing outdoor leisure product design, projecting New Zealand qualities in export product, creating internal brand support, product concepts, and developing an integrated outdoor furniture system. With the strategy confirmed, BRR proceeded to research and develop a new, internationally registerable name for the company to reflect the natural and design components of their new brand. The name 'Verda' was selected and a visual identity, design system and key items of collateral were subsequently designed by BRR. This project was completed in early 2008, but already the BRR brand strategy and design have enabled Verda to engage new customers with a defined market proposition, at significantly improved margins.
